Autumn in Auburn

By: Kate Stone

For Auburn fans, orange is a year-round color, but during this time of the year we start to see more and more of it on the trees as well. Fall in Auburn is full of team spirit, family and perseverance if you are an Auburn football fan. Some of the best memories come from this time of the year for all ages.

To start off your autumn weekend, stop by Auburn’s new boutique, the Pants Store, for a game day outfit to have for this weekend. Or to Bitty & Beau’s, Auburn’s new coffee shop, that gives job opportunities to people with special needs. After, take a walk over to Samford lawn, and think of the other activities Auburn has to offer during this season.

For students attending Auburn University, here is a list of five things to do this fall:

  1. Auburn Football. Of course, this would be expected to be on the top of the list, but Auburn football brings more to fans than just the game. Many fans find themselves with friends and family tailgating in the white tents before game day. Watching Coach Bryan Harsin and the team while Aubie is pumping up the crowd is fun for all ages, and a good way to spend the day before a game.

  1. Over the past couple of years, Auburn University has been given the nickname “Everything School”, meaning we have support everything within the university. What other way to keep up with the name than being a part of the fan base for all the sports going on? The soccer team has started their season along with the men’s golf team (who is ranked number one) and volleyball. Students have free entry into sporting events other than football so go out and show your support for our other teams.

  2. Chewacla State Park is another place to go this fall. For $4 you can get into the state park to go hiking, fishing and kayaking. The park even has different packages in the fall so that you can camp on game day.

  1. The Ag Heritage Park Pavilion is another great location to go on picnics, walks, take your dog or play frisbee golf with friends. The Red Barn overlooks a pond that has picnic tables surrounding it.

  1. Involvement is something students on Auburn’s campus take seriously. Many clubs open registration in the fall, and most of the time you can find them on the concourse during class times.

Fall in Auburn brings more than just football. It brings involvement from the community, togetherness, fun activities and a change to scenic attractions.
