Auburn University’s College of Agriculture alumni are in every field and no matter where they end up, they are wildly successful. This success is due to a variety of things, but the continued excellence of the college's programs is a big contributor. From research opportunities to working closely with people in industry, there are endless opportunities for Auburn Ag students to achieve their goals.
1. Hands-on learning is one unique way for students to get the experience they need going into their careers. There is a high possibility at any given moment to see students carrying around huge nets catching insects for entomology, helping process meat at the meat lab, or even students who aid in managing the turf at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
2. Undergraduate research opportunities are another way that students are able to put their best foot forward going into their careers. By doing undergraduate research, students are able to get firsthand experience in specific fields they may want to pursue in their career. They also often leave undergraduate research and go into graduate programs using the experience they gained in undergrad or even the same research basis. Research is always important and for students to have the opportunity to pursue their own research is huge in opening the door for their careers.
3. Another way Auburn students are better prepared for their future is through the industry representatives who speak to classes and come to college-wide functions simply to interact with students. This allows for students to get to know their possible employers and is a great way for them to potentially make connections that can place them into their careers.
4. The alumni mentor program is an excellent way to interact with alumni so students can not only form relationships with the alumni but they can also get advice on how to be successful in their future industry. Alumni also help the students to make more connections benefiting them in their future career paths. They also help to guide students on what organizations, classes or experiences that employers would want to see in their employees.
5. College-wide involvement events like Ag Roundup or the Club Fair that occurred at the beginning of fall semester are also unique ways that our students are given the best opportunity to succeed. These events help students gain a sense of community within the college. They allow students to mingle with industry leaders who could possibly be their employers and overall give them an easy way to prepare for their futures.
All of these events and opportunities are what put Auburn Ag students above the rest. Because of these opportunities, Auburn Ag students are sought after no matter their goal after graduation and continue to be successful throughout their lives. Auburn Ag has and continues to exceptionally prepare students for their futures.
