Roping In Support for New Competition Rodeo Association

By: Tylin Wilbourne

Auburn, Ala.- This school year, with the support of students and faculty members, Auburn University approved that the Rodeo Association will be allowed to travel and compete across the country. The competing team currently has bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and break away roping for students to compete in.

Member representative, Hunter Robinson says, “Being a member of our association does not require any familiarity with rodeoing. We accept competing and non-competing members to make sure everyone gets a chance to experience the rodeo world. Non-competing members will have the chance to join competitors on the road and help with fundraising events. You don’t want to miss out on the chance to be a part of this.”

If a student is looking to sign up, the club information can be found on AU involve (a link to their page is listed below). Students are also encouraged to reach out to Stevie Fields (slf0043@auburn.edu) about becoming a member. If a student wants to become a competing member, they must own their own horses and be experienced in their chosen rodeo event to be eligible during that most recent season.

If students or faculty cannot join the Rodeo Association but would still like to support them, they will be selling t-shirts to help fundraise for travel funds and events. Shirts will be $25.00, and a link will be shared when they are available to purchase. A design of the t-shirt is pictured below. The Rodeo Association is looking forward to their first competition in Magnolia, Arkansas on November 6th through 9th. Be sure to wish them luck and a War Eagle!
